To Attach an Object to a Configuration Item

The Customer Portal enables you to attach objects to config items. Objects can be documents or files that provide more information about the configuration item. The information could be used to assist the resolution process for current and future incidents that have been logged against the config item.

Select Attach Object to Your Config item from the Customer Portal Navigation Bar.

- OR -

From your Home Page, select the config item within the Your Configuration Items summary and click the   button.

Search for a config item via the Review Configuration Items menu option and select the config item from the results page. Click the   button.

Selecting the   button from any of the above screens will display the Add an Object to Your Config item page.

To attach object/s to your config item, follow these steps:

  1. On the Add an Object to Your Config item page, type the config item reference no in the Config item No field. This is the reference or unique identifier for the config item. You can only add an object to a config item with a valid config item no.
  2. To add the object, select the Browse… command from the Object field. A pop-up window will be displayed. Select the object you want to attach to the config item.
  3. Type a description of the object you are attaching in the Description field.
  4. If configured, you can select the Send Email or Send Pager option for the config item.

Send Email will send an email message to and Send Pager will transmit a paging notification to the officer to whom the config item is assigned.

  1. Click OK. An acknowledgement is displayed. This confirms that the object has been attached to the config item.

Objects are a useful function to add more information to the config item.

 

After attaching an object, if you reload the page, you will need to attach the object again. Uploaded objects are cleared when a page refreshes to display an error message in case a mandatory field has not been completed on that page.
